Publication Ethics
Smart Techno Journal contains scientific articles on research results that have never been published in the scientific field of Informatics Engineering and Science. This scientific code of ethics statement is a statement of the code of ethics for all parties involved in the scientific publication process, namely journal managers, editors, bestary partners, and authors. This scientific publication code of ethics statement is based on the Head of LIPI Regulation Number 5 of 2014 concerning the Code of Ethics for Scientific Publications, which essentially upholds three ethical values in publications, namely (i) Neutrality, which is free from conflicts of interest in publication management; (ii) Justice, which gives authorship rights to those entitled as authors; and (iii) Honesty, which is free from duplication, fabrication, falsification, and plagiarism in publications.
Duties and Responsibilities of Journal Managers
- Determine the name of the journal, scientific scope, periodicity, and accreditation if necessary.
- Determine the membership of editors on a regular basis.
- Define the relationship between publishers, editors, reviewers, and other parties.
- Respect confidential matters, both for contributing researchers, authors, editors, and reviewers.
- Implement norms and provisions regarding intellectual property rights, especially copyright.
- Conduct a review of journal policies and communicate them to authors, editors, bestary partners, and readers.
- Establish code of conduct guidelines for editors and bestary partners.
- Publish the journal regularly.
- Ensure the availability of funding sources for the sustainability of journal publishing.
- Build and expand cooperation and marketing networks.
- Periodically improving the quality of the journal.
- Preparing licenses and other legal aspects.
Duties and Responsibilities of the Editor
- The editor provides comments on the author's writing so that readers can understand what the author wants to convey, through comments written on the manuscript.
- The editor provides comments on the author's writing in accordance with EYD (Improved Spelling) or language that is in accordance with the standardization of the journal.
- Editors strive to improve the quality of publications on an ongoing basis.
- Editors prioritize freedom of opinion objectively.
- Editors submit corrections, clarifications, withdrawals, and apologies if necessary.
- The editor ensures that the author's writing does not involve racism or anything that can harm the publisher and coordinates the author's writing with the editor-in-chief of the publisher if the writing is slightly controversial.
- The Editor receives, reviews, and follows up on complaints from all parties involved in journal publishing.
- The editors support initiatives to educate researchers about publication ethics.
- Editors do not defend their own, authors' or third parties' opinions that may lead to unobjective decisions.
- Editors encourage authors/writers, so that they can make improvements to the paper until it is suitable for publication.
- Editors layout manuscripts to be published so that they are in accordance with the journal template.
- The editor assists the editor-in-chief in finalizing the collection of manuscripts before printing and publication, especially in terms of language, format and layout.
Duties and Responsibilities of Bestary Partners
- Receive an assignment from the editor to review the paper and submit the results of the review to the editor, as material for determining the eligibility of a paper for publication.
- Reviewers may not review papers that involve themselves, either directly or indirectly.
- Maintain the author's privacy by not disseminating the results of corrections, suggestions, and recommendations by providing criticism, suggestions, input, and recommendations.
- Encourage the author/writer to make improvements to the written work.
- Reviewing the corrected paper in accordance with predetermined standards.
- The paper is reviewed in a timely manner according to the publication's style based on scientific principles (data collection methods, author legality, methods, conclusions, etc.).
Duties and Responsibilities of Authors
- Ensure that those included in the list of authors/writers meet the criteria as authors/writers.
- Take collective responsibility for the work and content of the article including methods, analysis, calculations, and details.
- State the origin of resources (including funding), either directly or indirectly.
- Explain the limitations of the research.
- Responding to comments made by the reviewers in a professional and timely manner.
- Inform the editor if the paper is to be retracted.
- Make a statement that the paper submitted for publication is original, has never been published anywhere in any language, and is not in the process of being submitted to another publisher.
